THE INSPO

I have always loved the idea of a sexy, off-the-shoulder sweater. Effortlessly chic, but that you could still curl up next to the fire, pull on your comfy cozy socks, and nestle in for a good read. Even though there isn’t a lot of skin shown, it’s that subtle illusion to seeing more that just makes you feel like a goddess. Clavicles man… they are attractive! I was scrolling Pinterest one day and saw the most amazing big flipped over cowl neck that slipped off one shoulder and I knew I had to create my own version.

DESIGN DETAILS

This design is a top-down yoke. Meaning you start at the neck, increase for the bust, put the sleeves on hold, and continue to work the body. Once finished there, you come back to the sleeves and work them in the round, pick up the collar and work it in glorious ribbing and tada, you have a gorgeous sweater. It sounds intricate, but it’s not.

This design takes the simplicity of stockinette and oomphs up the glam factor with loads of ribbing details. I specifically decided to elongate the ribbing sections, to give a feminine twist, that is ever so subtle as it grabs in all the right places. Longer sleeves that land mid palm and a longer length torso, it’s perfect to pair with tights… or even just stockings for your partner. *wink

This pattern also plays into the sexy vibe with waist and hip shaping.

The collar really is the star of this sweater, and since it’s off the shoulder, I did add a sewn elastic in it to ensure it stays up. This pattern has neutral ease. Meaning it should be very close to your body measurements.

THE YARN

What a surprise, I have once again used my favourite yarn ever: Lion Brand Chainette. I love this yarn not only for the fact that it’s a size 4 worsted and knts up so quickly, but it’s got the most delicate fluffy fibers that give it a small halo that is just unbeatable.

PICKING YOUR SIZE

How to choose your size: Find your bust measurements below. The neutral ease is built into the pattern, meaning final measurements are extremely close to that number. (Either 1 inch of positive ease, or 1 inch of negative ease depending on your bust measurement). These sizes are based off of womens bust measurements according to the Craft Yarn Council standards, but it is unisex. i would suggest finding your biggest circumference and choosing that size.

Knit in the round, seamless.

DESCRIPTION

There truly is something sultry about an off the shoulder sweater. Slightly playful, but still classic as ever. In this design, I’ve taken basic stitches but oomphed up their wow factor with simple stockinette and elongated ribbing in sections to give it a feminine touch. Knit top-down and in the round in a yoke fashion, the Cold Shoulder Pullover is designed with either 1 inch of positive ease, or 1 inch of negative ease (depending on your bust measurement) and does include waist and hip shaping. Worried about slippage? Don’t. The collar is picked up last and has a sewn in elastic to make sure it stays in place. With long sleeves and a long hem to cover your bum, this sweater is perfect for pairing with a set of tights.

Knit top down, in the round, and seamless, this pattern is written in nine sizes – XS (S, M, L, XL), (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL). It is suggested that you highlight your size, so you know which stitch count to follow. For reference, the model pictured is wearing the size M and is 5’7”, 143 pounds and has a bust of 36.5” in circumference
