THE TUNNEL VISION SWEATER

Ever have that one stitch hat you just hate doing? That… is the purl for me. If I see a pattern started with a purl, I can already feel the “Ugh” coming on. Fun Fact: I started selling scarves and created Knitatude without knowing how to purl. #IFYOUDREAMITYOUCANDOIT

I have always been a big fan of reverse stockinette, which shouldn’t come as a surprise, because stockinette in general is my favourite stitch, but the best part about the Tunnel Vision Sweater… is there are no purls (well, minus the ribbing of course). It’s knit inside out, so all you have to do is continuously knit. Even the collar.

BACKSTORY ON MY LOVE FOR STOCKINETTE

I have to giggle, because every once in a while I will see a comment on Ravelry about how “boring” the stockinette section is - because if you’ve done any of my patterns… usually the whole dang thing is stockinette. I find it so mindless and smooth to just sit in front of the TV and knit without having to panic about not having a certain stitch count to do a pattern or lacework, or worry if I did something wrong. I also find it great because you don’t need to finish a row in order to put it down. AKA: It’s great for the mamas with busy toddler hands, needy doggies, and people with partners who constantly pester them with questions out there.

Anyways, the Tunnel Vision Sweater:

I am really excited to bring you this bebe, because she is seriously a dream to wear. I know I’ve ranted and raved about Lion Brand Chainette, but I’ll do it again until the day I die. Pay the shipping - it’s SO worth it. It isn’t itchy (and I find alpaca a bit itchy after a while), it fluffs up so it feels like you’re knitting a cloud like heavy worsted, it’s light as a feather (like you’re wearing a fingering weight sweater with a quarter of the make time), and it doesn’t pill. Even in the armpits. It’s. The. Best. Plus the color palette is freaking unreal. You can buy this pattern as a kit through them HERE.

OK let’s get into the meat of it;

TUNNEL VISION PATTERN DETAILS

This reverse stockinette sweater is designed with a glorious cowl that gives an elegant drape, while remaining cozy and warm.  Slightly oversized, it is designed with 3-5 inches of positive ease (just take your measurements, and this math with already be done and ready for you). Landing at a few inches below your belt line, it’s perfect to wear with some ripped boyfriend jeans and cute shorty boots.

Note: This sweater is worked inside out, so you don’t have to continuously purl to achieve the reverse stockinette look. It’s knit in the round until your underarm and then split up into two sections (the front and back panel) which will be worked flat. After completing these sections you will use the three needle bind off technique to join your shoulder seams together.

Knit in the round, knit flat, sleeves knit in the round, seamless.
