DESCRIPTION

The Cider Jacket is slightly thicker and meant to be worn as an outer layer. That’s why you’ll find this pattern has a tighter gauge that creates a thicker, sturdier version of a men's cardigan. Intended to be worn with 7.5-9.5” (19-24 cm) of positive ease in the chest (when buttoned), this jacket was designed with men's measurements. It has the classic pointed collar, and I-cord bind offs on the hem, sleeves and collar to create a cohesive theme.

This jacket is knit from the top down. You will cast on for the back and work from the neck down. Once the back panel is complete, you will pick up the front panels individually and shape the neckline before working the rest of each panel. All panels are then joined under the arms and the torso is worked as one. The sleeves are picked up individually and knit in the round down, towards the cuffs. The pointed collar is then picked up and worked flat. The button bands are picked up individually and worked flat, then folded and seamed down. Finally, the pockets are knit flat and seamed individually.

Note: This pattern is knit flat and in the round using circular needles to accommodate the amount of stitches. It is written in 9 sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (2X, 3X, 4X, 5X) so be sure to follow the correct size throughout. Model pictured is wearing the size M and has a chest of 41” (104 cm) in circumference, for reference.
